Coventry City are reportedly ready to launch a £20 million bid for Albion goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, who spent the season on loan at the Sky Blues last season, subsequently guiding them towards promotion via a league title. Rushworth's efforts left him in the Championship Team of the Season, with many Coventry fans even labelling him on social media as one of the best goalkeepers that the club had ever had. His love for Coventry with the fans and club would make sense for that move to materialise, especially as he'd be competing in the Premier League every week. Verbruggen hasn't been without his mistakes this season, too. He leads the charts for errors leading directly to the goal, alongside fellow teammate and compatriot Jan Paul Van Hecke. The Dutch duo have struggled with naivety and individual errors, especially at the end of the season. Some fans have argued that without these errors, Albion could well be competing in a higher level of European football next season. With that in mind, it is safe to say that the position is certainly not a stable one from an Albion point of view, and may affect the immediate future of the bid and Rushworth. With that in mind, a £20 million sale would be seen as a strong profit for a player signed from Halifax Town. Since 2020, Rushworth has yet to even make a senior appearance for the club. Doing it the right way, he has been loaned to every division since and has found his way to the top level of English football.
