Oliver Dovin has returned to Coventry City for treatment on a shoulder injury, ending his loan spell at Leyton Orient early. The club confirmed the goalkeeper sustained the damage towards the end of his debut for the League One side last Tuesday.

Coventry City said in a statement: "Coventry City FC can confirm that goalkeeper Oliver Dovin has returned to the club for treatment on a shoulder injury." The 2-1 defeat to Arsenal Under-21s in the EFL Trophy marked his first competitive appearance since March 2025, following an 18-month absence with a serious knee injury.

Recovery timeline and future plans

Dovin is expected to be out of action for up to six weeks. After completing his rehabilitation at the club's Ryton training base, he is scheduled to resume his loan with Leyton Orient. The move was initially arranged on transfer deadline day to provide him with regular match minutes after he missed the entirety of the 2025/26 season.

The injury is another frustrating setback for the young keeper, who had just recovered from a minor ankle issue before the shoulder problem occurred. He had featured for Coventry in pre-season ahead of the current campaign. The Sky Blues, who sit 18th in the Premier League with three points from five games, face Newcastle United at home on October 12.

Oliver Dovin is expected to resume his loan spell at Leyton Orient after his recovery period.
